Sue Gent

Inspired by mythology, history and the natural world, Sue’s artwork combines traditional and digital techniques – hand drawing pieces with ink and brush, then digitally colouring them. Her influences range from medieval woodcuts and illuminated manuscripts to 60s poster art, Indian matchbox designs, Art Nouveau and Japanese woodblocks. She graduated from UWE Bristol, UK with a first-class honours degree in Art and Visual Culture and now lives in a village in Somerset, UK – where there’s a wealth of wild countryside, history and folklore to fire the imagination.

She recently completed her fourth cover design for author Joanne Harris. Other clients include Quarto Publishing, BBC History, BBC Countryfile, BBC Wildlife, Homes & Antiques, SAGA, Waitrose, Popshot Magazine and Old Dungate Press.

She has a background in film-making (specifically dark animated short films and music videos for Bolexbrothers and Collision Films). She also produced Radiohead’s multi-award-winning ‘There, There’ video.
