Jenny Urquhart is an immensely popular Bristol artist. She creates beautifully cheerful, uplifting paintings of Bristol and the surrounding woodland areas such as Ashton Court and Leigh Woods.  Even though she lives in North Bristol she was born and raised in the British countryside so painting trees and views is her passion. Jenny is a member the of the North Bristol Artists and is so well known that she features on the local primary schools art curriculum!

Jenny’s original painting barely last a few hours once shown in our window displays. However her prints and canvas prints can be ordered anytime. If you don’t see the size you’d like in our online shop then do message us with your request newtwist@mail.com

Jenny’s paintings are usually bold and contemporary and reflect her life-long love affair with the coastline of England, particularly in the South West. Largely working from memory, she experiments with acrylic, collage, ink and digital mediums to create contemporary and colourful images of her favourite places!

Jenny comes from a scientific background and originally studied Biology at Oxford University. She then went on to teach secondary science for ten years. In 2011, Jenny gave it all up and decided to follow her dream of being an artist. She started painting from her kitchen table, but now has a studio in her loft. “The Bristol is a vibrant city, heaving with culture and worth exploring. My aim is for my paintings to bring just a little bit of that into people’s homes!…I love what I do and I hope that comes across in my pictures..”

Jenny has produced a lovely colouring book of many of her artworks, available at Room 212 for £10. We also have her cards and coasters
