Nancy Chambers

Nancy Chambers has lived and worked all over the UK, and now resides in Bristol. Her artistic endeavours – painting and drawing – began during her childhood

She began painting professionally in 2019, having previously worked for 30 years in the charity sector. Since then, she has exhibited alongside artists like Grayson Perry, Antony Gormley, Maggie Hambling, and Anish Kapoor.

The first degree Nancy studied was Geography, which is apparent in the subjects and mediums she uses. Bio-acrylic paints, recycled packaging and eco-friendly brush cleaning are a few examples of the conscious, natural materials which inform her work.

Her aim is to capture the essence of each subject, rather than a literal likeness. For a dandelion, she paints with needles; for poppies, she paints with hand made palette knives from recycled milk cartons to portray their delicacy and movement. Her work is united by a commitment to clarity and simplicity, balancing vibrant expression with a sense of calm.
