We run courses & workshop at Alchemy 198, Gloucester Road

We are now running courses & workshops at our neighbouring gallery cafe bar, Alchemy 198   Informal creative gatherings take place in the main bar such as the Creative Club with Debby Bird every Friday 10.30 – 12.30 while workshops take place in the Downstairs Gallery.

All courses are for beginners or improvers. Prices vary depending on times and materials.

Weave a Willow Hare – Saturday March 16th, 10am -4pm

 Create your own life size Willow Hare this March.  Perfect as a gift or for your home or garden. Full day course with hour break for lunch. £60 per person

Using locally sourced willow, experienced tutor Sarah Jayne Edwards will show you how to turn sticks into a 3D sculpture. Discover the creative potential of willow, learn the basic techniques and then weave your own life sized hare to take home

. Materials provided but please bring good secateurs and a stanley knife. Soup, sandwiches and drinks available at Alchemy 198.

Creative Watercolour Workshop with Emma Burleigh, April 7th 10am – 4pm

Explore the jewel-like colours and evocative qualities of watercolour through fun and supportive exercises with award winning artist and qualified teacher Emma Burleigh. Develop confidence to paint expressively and intuitively, and give yourself permission to enjoy the unexpected, to have fun and to make ‘mistakes’. Time will be spent learning watercolour skills including how to paint washes, wet in wet, and glazes. You’ll also be guided to experiment with fresh and playful ways to express your memories, moods, dreams and visions in this luminous medium.
Suitable for both beginners and more experienced artists looking to relax, shake up and get playful with their watercolour practice.
