Setting – the Room 212 Garden

The Room 212 walled garden is on Bishop Lane, tucked behind a living willow hedge, to the back of the gallery. This is a lovely tranquil spot,  just off Gloucester Road, and is the perfect setting to get creative and immerse yourself in art for the day. Climbing plants cover brightly coloured walls and owner Sarah Thorp’s Eco House is to one side, painted with murals by Room 212 artists Carla James and Knitted Pea. The garden is a lovely sun trap, with different areas to set up tables for safe social distancing. We’ll have a gazebo in case of light rains and there are shady areas too. If the forecast is for heavy rain we’ll have to postpone to a different day.

Workshops will run from 10.30am – 3pm with a breaks for lunch & refreshments. You are welcome to stay til 4pm to finish your painting without Emma’s guidance.

Coffees and cakes available with a 10% discount from Perfecto Coffee just next door or a from a range of wonderful cafes or bakeries on Gloucester Road. You are welcome to bring a pack lunch.

Water provided but please bring your own cup. Toilet in Room 212.

Your Art Teacher will be Emma Catherine
Emma is an experienced artist and teacher who has led many painting workshops. She loves sharing her skills and helping people discover their creative side and have fun.

Emma’s work has been displayed in the Room 212 windows since the beginning of 2021 when owner Sarah Thorp was looking for striking artwork to amuse passers-by during Lockdown. Emma’s original paintings have proved immensely popular, particularly her large Super Moon painted in sumptuous coloured oils and gold leaf – shown here in our garden.
