Relaxing, fun, creative workshops for beginners using bright and vibrant colours either in watercolour or acrylic. Painting classes take place in the Room 212 studio space. Please contact Room 212 via newtwist@mail.com for more details.

Are you itching to unleash your creativity, want to learn how to use painting to lift your mood, experiment with new techniques or paint something unique to put on your wall?

We are planning a series of relaxing art classes in the Room 212 studio and garden.  A chance to meet others in a safe setting and get your create juices flowing.

The Art Classes will follow different themes and encourage you to develop your skills with fun and confidence on a large confidence.

All painting materials included in the price, including a large canvas and acrylic paints.

If you’d like to book a class exclusively for your group of friends of family then let us know, we’d be happy to arrange a day especially for you.

Setting – the Room 212 Studio looking out to the garden

   

Workshops will run from 10am – 3pm with a breaks for lunch & refreshments. You are welcome to stay til 4pm to finish your painting without Emma’s guidance.

Coffees and cakes available with a 10% discount from Perfecto Coffee just next door or a from a range of wonderful cafes or bakeries on Gloucester Road. You are welcome to bring a pack lunch.

Water provided but please bring your own cup. Toilet in Room 212.

Your Art Teacher will be Emma Catherine
Emma is an experienced artist and teacher who has led many painting workshops. She loves sharing her skills and helping people discover their creative side and have fun.

Emma’s work has been displayed in the Room 212 windows since the beginning of 2021 when owner Sarah Thorp was looking for striking artwork to amuse passers-by during Lockdown. Emma’s original paintings have proved immensely popular, particularly her large Super Moon painted in sumptuous coloured oils and gold leaf – shown here in our garden.

 

Workshop Themes are as follows;

Join Bristol artist Emma Catherine in the Room 212 garden and learn how to unlock your creativity and have fun with paint.

Learn to paint a giant realistic flower of your choice using acrylic paint. Learn to mix colours, draw using negative space and have fun with paint.. Emma will bring images for you to copy or you can be inspired by the Room 212 garden.

Paint Bristol (or Your Favourite City) Skyline  (watercolour) 

 

Join Bristol artist Emma Catherine in the Room 212 garden and learn how to unlock your creativity and have fun with paint.

This is a very colourful and fun workshop. Emma will teach you how to create a skyline representation of Bristol or you favourite town or city. You will need to bring some photos on your phone of landmarks of your special place

All materials included. Do bring along pictures of your favourite buildings or city skylines, either as print-outs or shots on your phone or tablet.

Paint an Abstract Seascape (acrylics) 

 

Are you dreaming of coastal walks or missing a holiday beside the sea? Why not join Bristol artist Emma Catherine in the Room 212 garden and learn how to unlock your creativity and play with the beautiful colours of the ocean

Emma will guide you on the best way to start painting, whether you wish to directly copy a picture of the seaside or paint in a more abstract, playful way. A fun, freestyle approach to painting an atmospheric seascape using acrylic paints, sponges and mark making. Be prepared to get messy!

Paint a Stag or Highland Cow (watercolour)

     

Join Bristol artist Emma Catherine in the Room 212 garden and learn how to unlock your creativity and play with paint.  You will look at composition and shape to create a stylised stag or shaggy highland cow in vibrant watercolours

COVID-19 Guidelines

All materials will be thoroughly sanitised and each guest will have their own to avoid sharing. Outside tap and soap provided for handwashing.

There will be a maximum of 9 people in the group, including Emma.

Tables and easels will be spaced around the room to give safe spacing between everyone.

Hand gel and sanitising wipes available and enough space for safe social distancing

The workshop may be a little messy so please wear old clothes and/or an apron

There is on-street parking available and a variety of buses on Gloucester Road
