Existential Diagrams

Ruth's paintings resemble diagrams.

They have a bold graphic style and sometimes an animated mechanical appearance. There is humour and occasionally a phallic presence.

'The work begins as an antidote to information overload. I find relief in a sort of shorthand for complicated sensations and emotions. They become visual descriptions of intense relationships or portraits without the circumstantial details.'

Ruth has a BA in design from Kingston University and an MA in Painting from Wimbledon School of Art.
