Dancers and Bathers

My work is concerned with colour, the form of colour and the visual space created by colour. The current work is based on late Degas work which I find extremely rich visually and structurally, but I am also heavily influenced by painters such as Hoyland and Hodgkin.

I work in pastels as they allow me to quickly build up layers and overlays of pure pigment, while experimenting with different colour relationships on the picture surface.
