Katie Murton

Katie grew up surrounded by DIY projects and handmade crafts. Family motor caravanning holidays in Europe admiring cathedrals and chateaux inspired her love of architectural ornament. After an Art Foundation course at Kingston Poly, Katie graduated from Bristol Poly with a ceramics degree in the 90’s. Katie has been making in clay ever since. Although other skills have tempted her into part time work over the years including professional gift-wrapping and building flat packed furniture, currently she continues to make as much as possible in her shed while raising a young family. Hand-building with slabs of stoneware clay, Katie’s most recent work is a range of birds and brooches and even knitting needle ‘flower heads’, inspired by her growing collection of mid-century ceramics.
