Buy onlineCarla James graduated from the University of the West of England in 2006 with a BA(Hons) in Drawing and Applied Art.
Carla’s inspiration as an artist began at an early age. She grew up in a small village in the English countryside. The village sits on the top of a hill with magnificent views of Bristol, valleys and lakes. Spending time within these environments had a huge influence.
Carla also had influences from the Caribbean island of Trinidad where her family live.
Carla spent time in Trinidad enjoying the islands cultural influences in a rural and tropical village setting. The village was surrounded with an abundance of vegetation including tropical trees, flowers and wildlife with luminous colors and sounds of the rainforest.
The lustre of nature is Carla’s main inspiration. She is particularly interested in plants, flowers, bold colors and free spirited qualities.
These influences shine through in Carla’s work.
Carla has beautifully combined her inspirations in her Bristol and Bristol Suspension Bridge watercolor and ink paintings. These are available at Room 212 as originals and prints including cards, which can be given as a gift then framed as art.
